Bioethics Centre

The Anscombe Bioethics Centre is supported by the Catholic Church in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, but has also always relied on donations from generous individuals, friends and benefactors. Donations can be made by contacting our administrator, Gwen McCourt, at, or by clicking the button at the bottom of this page (which will take you to PayPal). This button will allow you make either a one-off donation or a regular donation.

Gifts of any size are always appreciated and help to sustain the work of the Centre, which is to bear witness to Catholic ethical values and to be a source of bioethical reflection to inform the decisions of healthcare professionals, patients, scientists and many others.

Our Education Officer Appeal

Educational outreach has long been a key part of the Centre's work. We have a dedicated staff member who deals with requests for talks and educational activities from schools, universities, chaplaincies and other groups. The current education officer has been in post since 2016 and has delivered over 70 talks to a variety of audiences, including medical students, seminarians and members of the general public.

If you would like your donation to be earmarked specifically for maintaining this post, please see our Education Officer appeal.

Becoming a Regular Donor

In November 2019, the Centre had to move from its home of 10 years in Beaumont Street, Oxford, and take up temporary office accommodation in Pembroke College, Oxford. Both the move to Pembroke and the search for a longer-term solution to the Centre's accommodation will incur additional costs. It is essential that the Centre is able to cover these costs in order to secure its long-term future and continue the work of shaping ethical decisions and conversations in society, and being a major resource for bioethical reflection in the UK and Ireland.

If you would like to be actively involved in securing the future of the Centre, please consider turning your one-off donation into a recurring donation, which you can do so via the PayPal button below. Some regular donors may also wish to become Members of the Centre. Members agree to contribute £200 a year to the Centre - for example, as a standing order of £50 per quarter. Membership is a form of spiritual and financial solidarity with us, and members will receive certain benefits, e.g. conference fee reductions. Please visit this page for more information. You may also wish to consider including the Anscombe Bioethics Centre in your will. Sustaining the witness to and defence of the dignity of human life is a worthwhile legacy.

We are grateful for your generosity.
